Hated Sirius So Much: REACTIVATED XM Radio

I've had my new 330i for 3 months now and Sirius is awful.

First, I just can't seem to find a station I really like. I miss several on XM that do not seem to have an equivalent on Sirius (this may just be a matter of time.)

Second, and MOST important, I just could not stand the Sirius signal constantly going out. (I live in L.A. with lots of XM repeaters.) This is CRITICAL because having lots of dropouts really takes the pleasure out of satellite radio.

My XM works even in concrete shopping mall parking lots ! It's incredible. My portable MyFi XM works INSIDE my gym up to 50 feet away from a west facing window !

So, I'm putting the XM in the center console and I'll use both Sirius and XM depending upon my mood. And, when my included one (1) year is up on Sirius, I'll decide whether to renew or not.

Third, the XM sound quality is much better. This is especially true on the classical stations on Sirius, which are so compressed they screech on very high or loud notes -- XM doesn't ever do this.

Just my thoughts.

Hope your holiday is good.

I agree that Sirius drops out much easier than XM and that the sound quality is inferior to XM. I think both issues can be explained by the fact that Sirius' satelites actually have less transmit power output than XMs, along with less bandwidth.

But Sirius has Howard Stern. And it's fully integrated into my BMW. That matters more to me.

If you really like XM then you are in luck.

There has been a lot of talk that Sirus and XM will merge. Probably within a year or so.
