idrive Display

My control display is blank (black screen - nothing showing) - I guess this is covered by the warranty and a dealer visit but thought I would check in case there was anything obvious I am missing?

the one by your speedo or idrive? if speedo, try pushing the button on the signal stalk. Otherwise, try pushing the idrive knob.

try restarting the car if it doesnt work then bring it to the delaership.

Same thing happened to me yesterday! I noticed I had my key in upside down so I stopped teh car put teh key in the right way and the display came on - strange!

Dealer took one quick look and said the complete unit would need to be replaced - no problem as under warranty but inconvenient as there is a one month wait for parts! Glad this happened under the warranty....

I got the same problem this morning Idrive just froze on the BMW logo and it went blank. Drop it off to dealer and have them check it out perhaps new software is needed.

I had the same experience. If your problem is like anything like mine (which it sounds like it is), they will have to replace the CCC (don't remember what the initials stand for, maybe central communication control), but it only takes a day to replace and load software. The shitty part is waiting for the part to come in.

Word of advice, remember to request your NAVI DVD back when you retake delivery of your car. In my instance, I forgot to ask for the DVD back, and they had to get me a new one. Not a huge problem; just inconvenient.

Wouldn't be too bad if you went in with 2006-1 and they replaced it with 2006-2. I'm not sure I'd be complaining too loudly if that occurred...except 2006-2 has a postcode problem.

I think that would be great for you! But I don't know if it will be compatible. I don't see why not though.

Did you pay for the upgrade ? I got mine in Mar 06 and it came with 2005-2 version.

BTW got the car back today and they did upgrade the software on the idrive to 21.1 XXX, the only notice is on the car data setup there were new icons on setup menu and replaced both seatbelt buckels.
