Section Width vs. Tread Width (Gary please chime in)
I am deciding between Goodyear Asymmetric and Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Positions.
In general, which measured width would contribute more to rubbing...SECTION width or TREAD width? Same tire sizes 275/30ZR 19, Asymmetric's have 10.9 section width and 9.3 tread width vs. RE050A Poles have 10.7 section width and 9.7 tread width. Goodyears have a wider section width and the Pole Position have a much wider tread width. So, if I am planning for a tight squeeze on the rear of my e92 335 (dropped on Eibach sport) which tire would contribute more to rear rubbing? Section widths or tread widths? Thanks in advance guys for any help...

I'm no expert on tires, but it sounds like the Poles will be more "square-ish" than the GY's. I would think they GY's would have less of a chance of rubbing, even with the extra section width.
GY: /~~\ Pole: [~~] Also remember that the total section width difference needs to be divided by 2 to see the extra width on each side. So while the GY is .2" wider overall, it only extends .1" on each side. Not very much at all.....

GY: /~~\
Pole: [~~] If you take this pic, don't the GYs look stretched on the wheel???? Thsi is one reason why i always buy vredesteins - makes sure i get more width across the wheel..
