318/118d 143 BHP Remap results

Have just realised we haven't posted details of our x18d 143 BHP remap yet.

Here is a graph from a 118d we did for Sanspeed in Kent. Graph taken from their dyno.

It doesn't tail off early at all.

I think you're confusing the power curves and the torque curves...?! Looks like a nice map... good one Imran

That's an amazing improvement.

If these engines can be safely boosted to this extent, why do BMW keep the stock power so low?

Not remapped one before but I would guess around 6-8 BHP.

With the x18d- probably because they want to keep it away from the x20d - they both have 2.0d engines.

It just would not be worth it for 6-8 BHP would it?
It is not something we have looked into in great detail. The same goes for the 325i which has a 3.0 engine.

The low power gains is probably the reason why we haven't done any yet. We can also improve throttle response but I am not sure how much that would help.

Imran, that's a great improvement. Have you got a map to view for the 163bhp engine? How much are you charging in these cash strapped UK times :P

Haven't got a dyno graph for this model.

The cost for this model is £399 inc VAT.

Hi Imran,

On the torque curve (I think it's torque anyhow) there appears to be a spike at 2,300 rpm on the standard version yet on the mapped version there is a visible dip at the same rpm - any ideas on what this signifies?

Cheers,

Rich.

Yes - this is caused by the dyno because the cars are held at full load at low RPM's and then released which causes that dip. It is not felt on the road.
