Sprint Phones? Do I have Bluetooth?
Hi guys, I’ve been reading this forum and I have a few questions...
1) Do all North American E90's come with Bluetooth installed? All of the BMW documentation states that this as an option only with BMW Assist but I've seen a few posts stating that all USA E90's have Bluetooth (hence the "shark fin" on the roof). FYI, I have a 2006 E90 325i delivered 10/30/2005 and I did not get BMW Assist. 2) Assuming I do have Bluetooth in my car, can someone recommend a good Sprint phone that will Sync 100% (including phone book)? I have only seen 2 models listed and neither seem to sync the phone book. (Sony T608 and Treo 650) Thanks!! |

ill give this a go-- 1) i dont beleive all cars come equipped with bluetooth. i think you need to have BMW assist to get the car synched up to use bluetooth, but this doesnt mean that you need to keep the Assist subscription in order to use the bluetooth function. as for the shark fin, i dont know who gets it and who doesnt..lol, ive seen cars without Assist that have it. i tink that car was equipped with satellite radio though...but i dont think that you will bluetooth since you did not get Assist, i also dont know if there is a retrofit for it either. 2) one of my friends uses sprint and says that the samsung A800 or the samsung MM-A940 is a good phone...im sure other members could chime in since im sure there has to be someone here that has a sprint bluetooth phone.

Sony Ericsson T608 in E90
I tried my Sprint T608 with a demo E90 330i with iDrive and it downloaded my address book, synced with the 330i and I was able to make a call handsfree. The T608's are only available on eBay, since Sprint has discontinued this model. One of its advantages is to be able to be used as a modem with a bluetooth laptop. The monthly fee for the web access, modem access, etc, is $20 which is about 1/4 of what cingular wants. And it is reliable. I have been able to cruise for several hours while being connected at 220k.

The only Sprint phone that BMW lists as compatible is the Treo 650.
I have Sprint and the Samsung A900 (Blade phone - the Razr copy). I'm able to sync the phone to the car, but nothing works except the ability to make/answer calls (both need to be done using the phone itself). Also, once I get out and turn the car off, the connection is lost and the phone would need to be re-synced each time I drive the car... way to much work. The Treo 650 is WAY to big for my taste, and I get too good a discount on Sprint to go with another carrier... for the time being, I'm stuck.

i have the ppc 6700 qwerty slider with sprint. it pairs up most of the time in the car, but sometimes it does not and sometimes the bluetooth indicator on the nav screen just disappears in the middle of driving. could be the phone.
anyhow, i dont have a lot of faith in my bluetooth setup. its great when it does work...but there are so many little issues that have me pulling my hair. |
