Update of ECU question on trip to the dealer...

Hey guys,

I have a feb 2008 build date so I have the pre 29.2 software that is capable of using the Non-doomsday maps. I took my car in for a radio screen issue today. They are going to have to replace the radio headunit and configure the media system (bluetooth, bmw assist) so it all works with the new unit. Do you think they will update the ecu to the new program people have been getting?

My SA told me that they do not update the software unless something is wrong with the car and they have to. He said not to worry that they were not going to be messing with the computer.

Do you think they have to touch the ECU area for the issues I brought in the car for?

Thanks let me know

If they replace the radio, then they will have to update the entire car, which means they will program the DME (Digital Motor Electronics, ECU).
