To DAB or not to DAB?

Of those people who have the DAB radio option, how do you rate its effectiveness?

I can add it to my order by thursday afternoon, if I think it worthwhile.

I wouldnt be without it mate.

Its not easy to set up at first, but thats more an I-Drive thing....

It has good strong single throughout the length of the M1, loses it in very built up areas or very remote areas!

Great when you can get a signal, I have to Logic 7 super hi-fi and it sounds awesome through that, better than a CD.

I only drive my car for pleasure, so dont need it as have my own CD's.

If i used it as a work horse then yes the Radio would come in handy.

Along with Logic 7 probably the best option I ticked.

On my regular 45 mile route to and from work it drops out for just 10 seconds near Corby

another vote for DAB, works great around the south west and on trips to the midlands and london.

I'm surprised at all the positive comments about the sound quality - on my E92 with DAB and the Individual sound system, I wouldn't say that DAB sounded much better than FM. A little bit, but not much. Signal drops out a bit too. It is pretty cool that it shows the name of the track that is playing on the radio though

When it worked it was great (had on my previous car), especially when coupled with the DSP stereo, but signal was so poor near me I wouldn't choose it again. Just depends where you live really. If I could guarantee good reception I would choose it.

I am in Hampshire and the reception is good. I have driven along the A34, M6, M40 and again, good reception all the time.

I suspect you are right - only worth having if you are normally in a good DAB reception area.
