harry i found a similar issue
Turns out it was Windows 2003 Service Pack 1. I noticed the main Exchange box didn't have SP1 on it so, despite the stipulations that BES needs this service pack, I tried a total reinstall of the server without it and lo-and-behold, it works! This still seems totally daft to me. Whilst I can appreciate that domain controllers would all need to be on the same service pack, a simple member server should have to be. From what I can gather it appears to be something to do with the RPC security modifications in SP1 but then all manner of client workstations connect to the Exchange server without problems, despite running a variety of client operating systems and service packs - go figure! This might be a useful piece of information to include in the BES prerequisites. Far from SP1 being essential on 2003 Server, if the Exchange box isn't running it then it's actually detrimental. Perhaps the notes should say the BES server should have the same service pack as the Exchange box, even if this means none.
