Not sure. I know some people have installed the EVO 3 kit, but they also removed the transfer case. I was looking at just the lever option utilizing the stock carrier.

Yeah that was me. I had it done back in August. They had to drop my transfer case in order to install the ssk but it was so well worth it.

hi dave,

i'm a little confused, i'm new at this, does SSK stand for "sport shift kit"? or something like that? if so, i was wondering if you could tell the impact it has on shifting and acceleration. you said you're waiting to get one that's made specifically for the 335xi. which is it and will it fit a 325xi?

sorry for all the questions, i'm trying to learn

SSK = Short Shift Kit

SSKs decrease the distance between shifts. They make shifts faster and less vague. Xi021, I think it would be best to PM cycler and get the skinny on xi SSKs. I haven't been around for a while and still have yet to get mine installed.

You've preempted my review of the UUC XI shift kit but suffice it to say there is an XI specific UUC SSK product (very hard to find on their website) that improves shifting.

The best news is- you don't have to get underneath the car to install it! I was able to get it installed entirely from the interior of the car albeit with a slight mod to the shifter that doesn't affect it's performance etc at all.

I'm working on getting all of my pictures etc into a review for you guys. Stay tuned!

thanks for the info. i've been looking at the prices and i actually might be able to swing for a kit! i'm also looking into and ecu tune cause that seems like its fairly simple and not to expensive (less so then the supercharger i'd like to get). i started a thread on that and hope i get some advice.

thanks again

here's the link to the xi specific (found on another thread). it says its for 07 though and not 06. any idea if it will work on an 06 as well? http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp

unfortunately i think i'm gonna have to stick with the bmw ssk (any reviews?), i just can't afford $325 (well maybe if i wait for my birthday) shifting to 2nd is really starting to bug me so i'm definitely going to do the CDV mod once i find a place to install it for cheap...

Why buy the whole BMW SSK when you can just purchase the lever? I bought just the lever for $70 + $7 for a new bushing + $.50 for a new circlip. I ended up buying the M shift knob and boot for $120. For under $200 it was cheaper to buy each individual part then buying the whole BMW SSK, plus I got the knob I wanted.

Also, install the CDV yourself. It really took me like 15min to install it. Take off one undertray, clamp the line. pull the clips and out comes the CDV. Just make sure you pump the brake a few times to build pressure again. If you don't clamp the line you'll have one hell of a time bleeding the system.

Sorry this took so long to get onto the forum- been on vacation.

I've posted up a DIY for how to install the UUC EVO3 Shifter that's specific to the 335XI: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...87#post4439187

The DIY is designed to cover the modified installation only- it doesn't cover OEM shifter removal and it assumes you have access to the UUC instructions that come with the shifter.

I did not have a chance to get the pictures uploaded to the web page of the DIY but it's wrapped as a neat PDF you can download and print and the pictures are in the PDF.

I regret that I didn't get more good quality pix of the install but between my rush to get the shifter installed and the poor quality of my photos, I didn't end up getting too many good shots.

It's my first real DIY so go easy on me!
