Debating between Blizzaks or leaseing a small SUV. If I can lease something for around $150 a month for 24 or 36 months I may do it and not drive the car at in winter.

Me too. These are excellent winter tires. Very good in both wet and dry conditions and at highway speeds up to 140km/h. Very quite, smooth riding and longer wearing than Bridgestone Blizzacks. I would recommend them in 225/45 x 17" size for the 330 or 335. Check out Tirerack.com for more info.

I selected Michelins Pilots Alpin PA Winter Performance on a e90 330i nonZSP 159 wheels.
Alpins are smooth riding tires, quiet and performs well on our mild winter weather in Wash DC area.
Tirerack customers rates it very well too, Ive used it one mild winter season, about 4 mos in a yr. (Thankgivings to around Easter Sunday)
Im very pleased so far, that sometimes in I forget I have Winter tires on.
If you're in a very heavy Winter climate states, you maybe better off other brands posted alot in this thread.

I don't know about them now, but when I last used Blizzaks about 6 years ago they were great in the snow but awful on dry ground AND they only lasted me 2 winters. After that I bought Pirelli winters and they were fantastic on any condition (not for my 330xi fyi), my tire retailer and I reached the consensus that Blizzaks are better suited for places with more perpetual snow on the ground, not the occassional day. I'll probably go for non-RFT Hankook Icebear W300's this time due to cost.

Edit: After much deliberation, I've decided to go with the Dunlop Winter Sport M3 DSST's in 225/45/17. Costs CDN$90 more per tire vs the non-RFT Hankooks but they should last me a few winters so it'll be worth the peace of mind.

I have studded Hakka 2's on the Xterra. Have a set of Hakka Q's that were on the Saab, but won't fit the BMW. Going to get Hakka RSI's for this year which are the new version of the Q's. The non-studded ice tires are simply amazing. I anticipate great performance with the AWD and the RSI's. I may even have to take to BMW up to Sugarbush instead of the X, but I am too scared of idiots and skis and tight parking lots!

are there any runflat 18's? I will have 19s for the summer and will just use the stocks for winter tires. Ive been looking on tire rack but cant find anything. I think winter time is when you would want the runflat...

Dunlop Winter Sport M3 Run Flats! I have Michelin Pilot Alpins on my rear wheel drive E46 and the tires were NOT good. They did not have good traction on snow. I've searched and searched and searched the web and the Dunlop M3 run flats are going on my E90xi. There are simply too many POSITIVE reviews at tirerack.com from owners of BMW, Audi, Suburu, and others. Blizzacks get good reviews also there, but you see few people writing about Blizzacks who say they're better than the Dunlop M3. But you see LOTS of people reviewing the M3 who say they're better than the Blizzacks. The summary ratings across all reviewers for all winter tires who the Dunlop M3 gets the highest rating. Dunlop has a $50 rebate thru October 31, 2006! I'm getting the tires at Discount Tire. They give lifetime balancing free and will take on and off the wheels for free (I have two sets of wheels: one for winter tires and one for summer).
