Flex Tips

Anyone know of any good write ups or videos on how to use the Flex? I have a good idea of what pads/product to use but not sure how many passes I should take, what kind of pressure, etc.

Treat it the same as you would a PC, except if you need to apply more pressure with the Flex, you can do so easily without the machine bogging down.

I try to:
- Apply 15 ~ 20 lbs of pressure
- Move the buffer at 1 - 2" per second
- Work in small areas first until you get the hang of it, like 12" x 12", then move up to 18" x 18" or so.
- Apply about 3 pea sized drops of polish for each working area
- Pass over each spot of your working area 6 - 8 times prior to removing the broken down polish with a microfiber towel by hand
- Use speed settings between 4 - 6 when polishing
- Use at least 500w halogen lighting to expose the imperfections
- Tape off any trim or area that you do not want polish to get on

That about sums it up, if you have any specific questions on anything, please do not hesitate to ask.

Great info! Definately gives me a good idea on how fast to move and how much pressure to apply.

I had one more question for anyone really...

What's the correct order to do everything? I'll also need to remove the current product on the car. 50/50 iso/water mix?

Wash->Clay->50/50 Iso/Water rub down->Polish->Wipe off (use any product to remove?)->Seal and let cure for 24 hours->Wipe off (use any product to remove?)->wax->Wipe off (use any product to remove?)

That sound right?

Products:
Chemical Guys: Jet Seal 109
DI Packages: Flex XC3401VRG Starter Package
Menzerna: PO106ff Ceramic Clear Coat Polish
Menzerna: Super Intensive Polish
P21S: Pure Carnauba Wax
Megs Gold Car Wash
Megs Claybar

Correct order for the listed products would be:

Wash
Clay
SIP applied with orange pad on Flex removed with MF towel
PO106FF applied with white pad on Flex removed with MF towel
IPA / water wipe down with MF towel
Jet Seal 109 removed with MF towel
- cure for 24 hours -
P21S 100% Carnauba wax removed with MF towel

Be sure to keep us posted on how everything turns out for you.

One last quick question. Do you leave Jet Seal on for 24 hours and then remove? Or remove and then let chill for 24 hours?

Do you still need to oil the Flex's felt ring? Read something a long time ago about this...

Holy sore .. Was able to wash & clay the whole car. Then polished the hood with SIP and 106FF and applied Jet Seal 109.

Ran out of day light .. will do rest tomorrow.
