What cause tire rubbing issue?

I've been wondering... Tire rubbing is caused by lowering the car so
the clearance gap is not enough between car body and the tire?
or... the car is too wide (horizontally speaking) that it rubs the side of the car?
Sorry I'm a total car noob...

fat chicks on the back.. j/k basically what you said the clearance gap is not enough between the body and the wheels, if your wheels are wide and over lapping ur fenders then thats when you start to run into problems..

"What causes you to be sick" - well, lots of things.
Same applies here.

Rubbing can be caused by:
-Lowering the car way too much... "Your sideskirts are touching the ground, bud."
-Too large a profile... "305's on your 335? Whaaaat?"
-Incorrect Offset... "Yeah, I found these wheels on eBay. ET15 Offset. Tight!!!"
-Poor alignment... "i've heard of negative camber... but I like to think Positive!"
-Excessive weight in the back of the car.... "I get more girls than any of my friends, in gross tonnage!"

The best combination to avoid rubbing, then, is to:
-Choose an appropriate suspension setup based on your plans for wheels and tires, and don't go too crazy there, Mr. Airbags.
-Order the right tires! Contact a vendor on this forum if you need help!
-Get your car properly aligned!
-Date girls you meet at the Gym, not In-N-Out.

Hope this helps
