I wouldn't say it's easy at all!
It's straight forward, will take you a lot of time but definitely not easy.

so getting the VK/RR would be much easier to install than the 3" inch AR DP i assume? I've read that the AR fitment is dead on tho :S

No, they would not be any easier to install.

For me, removing and re-installing the stock pipes was extremely easy. Getting the steering rack out of the way a bit is easy to do, and makes the overall job very easy.

Installing the Riss Racing pipes was extremely easy as well, but getting them to fit correctly without strong vibration causing conflicts was impossible (unless you lke to cut things). I now have a set of $800+ paperweights, as they have refused to do anything for me on this.

I've heard the AR Design pipes go in as easy as the stockers.

Ya, don't get me wrong; I have the skills myself but to say to the community that it's an easy install is setting them up for a big dissapointment.
I've done the install 4 times:
UR HFC DPs
UR catless DPs
Stock DPs (Warranty claim)
UR catless DPs

It does get better with every install, but the first one took me 8 hours. I was watching my 5 month old at the same time though, but she was just mainly rolling around on the carpet.

Yes that's true, i guess i'm blinded by my experience sometimes! So, that being said, anyone that is mechanically inclined could do this themselves in a saturday. For an xi it might take the weekend.

Yea... i've done it once... and like everyone else... almost 8 hours the first time... i could see it being way quicker a 2nd time..

weird thing is it's not that there is anything to figure out, other than how to get your hands up there !!!

some directions say remove the little triangle aluminum heatshield... i did that, PITA !!! easier to loosen the bolts you can easily get to then bend it out of the way... move the steering rack... overall not too bad then...

also discovered part way through that getting to one of the clamp bolts seems to be eaiser form the top...

a good selection of extensions (some that have the little tappered sides that allow for a little slop in them) are nice to have....

overall mechanically easy, just time consuming... next time i bet will be 4 hours for me... (including lifting the car..etc.. i just jacked the right side up all the way, put a ramp under the wheel, but backwards... so i had a pillow there too) ...

You're probably right, my judgement of time/ease of install is probably a bit skewed since I do it all the time.
