Help With DAB Set Up
Just a quickie - and YES i know i should read through the manual (which i will at some stage!!) - but could any owners with the DAB option enlighten me. When i bought the car the DAB was working fine and had a number of preset stations listed - all shite i might add. Anyway, tried to select the DAB option today and its not showing any stations at all and i cant even seem to manually search for any either?? All the tabs seem to be a grey colour as opposed to white (if that makes sense?) - i have been fiddling with buttons in other areas so it seems i may have pressed something thats wiped all the DAB memory or something?? How do i search for stations?? Help???

It's because DAB broadcast is utter cr@p Steve...
Unless your not moving, it's pretty rubbish... if I'm in London it's fine, if I'm traveling some distance, I just use FM. |

Ahh - i did notice it said no signal - this is obviously why!! I wasnt aware i was in a low signal area? We have a really cool DAB radio in the kitchen at home and it seems to work perfectly well. Damn, what a shame, i was so looking forward to being able to listen to certain stations using the DAB in the car - nightmare!!

Steve, I have DAB but don't have idrive/Nav so I can't comment on the 'grey' rather than 'white' tabs point.
My DAB is very good and, whilst it occasionally 'drops' it only takes a few seconds to get it back. I had difficulties in the beginning as I was being a dumbass but I have a button that says 'AList' and after 30 seconds or so it tunes in all of the various DAB lists (BBC stations, local groupings etc). You select whichever station from each list you want and then hold down the station buttons for a few seconds to store the station. Will be totally different with idrive I know. Don't give up on the DAB yet though

Well I travel around the UK a lot and have no trouble unless in remote areas like the Cornish coast. I love my DAB radio and wouldn't be without it. Tuning is difficult as you have multiple stations on different frequencies. You have to find each group and add the desired stations in the group to your pre-sets. You also have to tab between presets and tuning on the business radio using the DAB button in the middle. Don't know about I-Drive but will admit that BMW's system is not simple like on a Pure radio
