Tyres might need tracking?

I have noticed that if I let go of the steering wheel, the car tends to pull to the left slightly on a normal road.

I think I might need to get the wheels/tyres balanced or aligment tracking?....

Does anyone know if this is covered by the BMW Warranty? I only got the car a few weeks ago from a dealership.

lol BMW covering for a full KDS under warranty?! i highly doubt it!

think it is your alignment tho. if it were your wheels not balanced your steering wheel wud wobble/shudder at speed.

Tony will explain/clarify a bit better

The tracking won't be covered under warranty. If you have a friendly relationship with the supplying dealer, you might be able to convince them to do something about it, but I think it's unlikely.

And yes, you need a full computerised (ideally KDS or Hunter equivalent) alignment - your local Kwik Fit are NOT the place to do it!!!

Double check by finding a decently cambered road and driving down both sides to see if it is pulling, or just following the camber.

On my previous car they did do a full KDS under warranty when I raised concerns over the camber following, saying that they could do it when the car had less than 15000 miles on. Though this was some years ago so it may have changed.

That's changed now - 4000 miles or under, and even then it's discretionary...

Mine also pulls to the left, also the steering wheel is slightly offset to the left when going straight.

Car only has a 1000 miles on it. Is it worth a try at the dealers?

Vas, I'd take it back to the dealership and book it in for warranty. Don't tell them that it needs an alignment, let them figure that out. Your car should have come from the factory with the steering wheel properly aligned.

cheers guys...will look into it...could anyone recommend somewhere I could take it?

somewhere, where they won't break something in my car and tell me they can replace it, or scratch my car and say that they could respray it, etc...

Mine pulled slightly to the left until I made sure the tyre pressures were matched left to right on the car, perhaps due to different tyre/road contact resistance

Also, we live in a round-about city/counyry and so suffer turning-tyre-wear. Rotate tyres and see if the problem is reduced.

Mine too drives with a smidge of left on the wheel and pulls a tad but really on norticeable on low/med speed, ie m-way speeds its not really there.

Ryre wear is my number one reason.... big, fat tyres and uneeven wear.

Ive had couple of KDS done now. I have found independants get the car just within tolerance. Still had issues so went to BMW battersea who did a MUCH better job.

I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and get it booked in, see what they say/do...
