Insist on a statement (in writing) from the dealer that the car will have delivery mileage only and will NOT be used by them as a demonstrator.

Seriously - the dealers in the UK buy their own cars as demonstrators. If they used customers cars pre-delivery they would soon go bust.

We never allow anyone to test drive a sold car, period.Too many things can happen and it makes no sense for the dealership to allow it to happen. When the cars are tested after completion on the assembly line, the odometer is usually negative .03 of a mile,so by the time they arrive at the dealership, they might have .02 - 3 miles on the odometer

I was thinking the same but with an additional 0 tacked onto the end.

I know of a case where someone on a test drive hit a puddle of water on the road. The truck pulled to the left (UK) and the driver overcompensated. He slid quite a ways down and across the road, over the verge, and ended upside down in the ditch. Truck had less than ten miles on it. It was almost comical (almost) watching him vent his frustration while muttering, "She's gonna be pissed, she's gonna be pissed!" ('She' being the sales rep).

This thread stressed me out ... the day before I picked up my car I saw a 56 plate black e90 still with protective paint film on it driving out of my dealer.

I was convinced they were playing with my car. It's OK though I think - I only had 8 miles on the clock when I collected it.

He doesn't even have to wait a day the damn car is PDC'd, at BMW's delivery center in Cali for west coast deliveries and for the east coast it NJ ,SC, all the dealer has to do is take the damn thing of the truck......and wash it...screw that I wouldn't let anybody drive my car.....nope no way nah uh.....I would tell the dealer tell me what day it will be there, then I'd be there the night before after they closed checking it out....

What is the standard delivery milage? What should it not excede? Test driving an automatic is one thing, but test-driving a 6-spd is something else especially if that person sucks in stick. Every car performs differently so even an experienced stick driver on a new vehicle may have some hick-ups while excellerating. I wish I wasn't so anal, but can't help it with my new car. Just the thought of someone beating on my car just makes my blood boil. It's like hooking your friend up with a girl that you just banged. If anyone's going to beat on my car, it's gonna be me!

Oh man.... Crap will hit the fan if I slightly suspect that my car has been test driven or even messed with. I am taking ED on Oct 19th and the only miles she will see are the ones from the delivery center in munich to drop off center in munich and a picture of the odometer to back it up at the delivery..... I heard that she might have 5 or so more miles put on her before the redelivery! But if it is like 50 we will have a serious problem!
