Yes 100% worked. I had one on my 535d just for a bit of fun to see if it worked. It deffo worked but was not sure what damage it was doing to my DPF so removed it and got a remap from Evlove. Which I must say is awesome

so would you say it was worth it for the money?

and the gains you achieved....were they similar to your remap or completely different???

I had one on my previous 320d 163bhp. Yes it produced more power but not sure at what cost. I understand it works by tricking the fuel pump the engine is under fuelled. The fuel pump boosts pressure which puts in more fuel. The visable side affect is more black smoke out of the exhaust when accelerating. The unseen side affect will be failure of the fuel pump at some point. I paid £50 for mine and used it for six months with no problems. I will not be putting one on my current 320d 177bhp. A remap will give you more gains and peace of mind if using Speed Religion, Evolve or DMS but at a slightly higher cost. There is also Bluefin, Spider etc. if you want a removeable box. If you search this forum there have been many threads in the last six months on these products. A UK based reputable company will give you customer service and advice if things need changing. A 'cheaper' box from ebay won't.

Oh yes deffo worth the money if you look at power versus money.

Power wise. Not as powerful as the remap although did give a an easy +40bhp I would say ( only guessing ) but had no tranny sympathy. Put your foot down and it was 100% full on. The tranny used to sound as if it was struggling.

The remap although very fast comes in more gentle so my tranny sounds fine now.

Remap power = whooooosh the way the power is delivered. Smooth and relentless

Box power = bang 100%

As for smoke none but only because I have a diesel filter so I would know nothing until it gave up. Too late then.

As carrerarsr says. It fools the ecu into thinking the fuel pressure is low so the ecu increases it to where it thinks it should be but in actual fact the pressure is way higher. Higher pressure = more fuel being injected so = more power in a diesel. The newer engines may be able to increase boost by a small amount to compensate for the richer mixtures but not sure by how much. As car with no diesel filter would be the car to try it on?

Yeah they have a very good name but just to the very same thing. That is all they can do unless you buy the type where you plug into every injector. That way they just inject more fuel rather than increasing fuel pressure. Increasing the fuel pressure is not a bad thing if done right

so in your opinion....apart from the fact that spider has a customer service center as aforementioned, they could probably be the same thing????

Hmmmm, Very hard to say. Yes it is the same technology but how it is applied I just don't know. They both increase fuel pressure as that is all they can do but unless i see a spider box I have no way of knowing.

You need to remember to get power from a diesel is not rocket science. More fuel = more power until you get smoke. Once you see smoke you increase boost. Job done. Although in real life not so easy.

Have seen to many issues with cars that use devices into fooling the ECU, that Iwouldn't truist one no matter how good it was.

Map all the way if I was to go down the power increase route. No good can come from over fueling the car when you haven't taken all other factors / inputs int consideration.
