hey I bought the 8gb one from futureshop, but I had the same problem..sometimes it disconnect itself.. and then last week even worst, I can't drag or delete any files into this drive... and I realize it went defective after a month after I bought it.. and I throw all my stuff away..( receip box etc)... and I took back to the futureshop in richmond and ask if there is anything that they can do or I can do..and this guy was so nice at the customer service.. he just exchange one for me.. eventho i don't have a receipt.. +1 for futureshop service..

I got it in Burnaby @ NCIX, i paid like $70 at the time 'cause they had an instant rebate then, but now i think it's $75 before tax. No problem fitting in the armrest 'cause I didn't plug it straight into the usb port, it came with an extension wire, so I used that. Btw, they are selling a 32gb for $90 before rebates.

Thx. Hmmm... I hadn't considered using an extension wire til now, but now that you mention it, i guess that would solve that problem. I like the fact that it's a clean install with no wire, but at the same time, having a wire connection, like a 6 inch one, would be easier to connect and disconnect, rather than the current sliding door system.

I'll check it out and maybe keep my Cruzer then, if it doesn't give me problems, and just buy an extension wire.

Well, for now, instead of going the hard drive route, I've just gone the simple route and gotten a flash drive. Rather than mucking about with a 6 inch extension cord (and having to buy one) I bought the 8 GB Patriot Mini, and so far, after a day seems to be working just fine.

This is what I got: CLICK HERE

I just picked up this exact same USB drive as well and wanted to mention that I needed to reformat it as FAT32 in windows before the car would recognize the drive. Straight out of the box it would not work, YMMV. Also, beware of all the false capacity USB drives flooding ebay!!! Tons of them, and I got ripped off with a "16GB mini drive" which is only a 2GB drive, but unstable and unusable until reflashed, low level formatted, etc...waste of time.

If I connect a hard drive to the usb hub, I will be able to surf the songs by artist, album, gender, etc like the ipod?

One other thing to note is that playing MP3s on the CD the player will move to the next folder after it's done with the current. On the flash drive it does not, it will just wrap back to the first song in the folder

FYI, i find the cds much easier to navigate myself, which is why i put my favs on that format.

but both is wicked, you just switch between radio, usb and mp3 disc on your steering wheel... and if you wanna add tunes, either make a new disc with your freshest tracks, or just dump some new ones on the stick.

ipod is alright, but its not necessary.

I'm using the 16 Gig version of this one and it works great. It fits nicely, I can close the armrest with it plugged in.

Honestly I would stay away from the Patriot brand. I bought one of these before and the thing went read only on me. I couldn't delete files from it and can't do anything to it. The manufacturer can't and won't do anything for me and basically just said tough luck. So I brought it back to the store to get an exchange and the 2nd one worked ok for a while and then went read only on me again but this time I got the problem solved, I just put it on the ground and went over it with my car
