Polishing and waxing today.
Well the weather has become nice and it is time to polish and wax my e92 335i.
IT is sapphire black and would like to get a idea from you guys. I have meguairs step 2 polish in my garage and megauiars NXT wax. I am gonna do both polishing and waxing by hand. Is it worth it? |

you wont be able to polish by hand. you'll need a DA or a rotory polisher

You'd achieve much greater results using a random orbital or rotary( You will yield little to no results by hand unless your god himself). Don't know if you have clay or not and if your familiar with how to use it etc. , but this would be a good step to add in before polishing if you don't mind investing another hour or so. If you really want top of the line products at a good price .George from Detailed Image is your man. I'm sure he could put together a great kit for you. His site is in my signature if you want to see some of the products they got. However you decide to do it good luck . Be sure to post some pics

If you don't have a machine it CAN be done by hand but, again, as others have said, you get much much better results with a machine. You don't get the correction abilities of the polish by hand and that's what the machine does. I use to do mine by hand a few years ago and at least it's something before you lay down the NXT.
Do you have any friends that might have a PC? EDIT: I just searched Meg's Deep Crystal Polish (Step 2) and it doesn't have any cut anyway. If that's the polish you have you would probably see a difference in your Black Sapp paint using this by hand. Reads more like a glaze product and while a machine is still better with a product like this it's not a cut product to level swirls or surface imperfections so you might be fine by hand with it. Somebody with more experience with this product can correct me if I'm wrong. Applying NXT by hand is a no brainer. Just lay it down thin.

That's why you should be a porter cable from Detailed image! It is almost impossible to screw up using a PC. If you want to step it up, get the Flex, safe but corrects much faster than a PC.
