Local detailer wants to compound my car for orange peel? What do you think?
So I have a regular professional detailer that does my car once in a while, charges $175 for a wash ,polish, wax. ect.
Well I mentioned to him about the terrible orange peel that the BMW paint comes with and he said for $275 he will compound my car, polish and wax it...afterwards it should "help" a little. What do you guys think? Anybody use compound to reduce the look of orange peel before and will it work at all? At least help it a bit? Should I shell out the money and give it a shot? |

Compound with wetsanding?
It's really not worth it to be doing something to your clear coat when you are still a daily driver. Only wetsand when the customer is a show-car, and needs the paint at perfection. With a thin Clear Coat, you are putting your paint at risk, not worth it |

it will make little difference, if you really want to lose the orange peel effect you need te resort to wetsanding. Before you can wetsand the surface you will need to apply a few more coats of clear coat. Otherwise the clearcoat will become to thin and you will get scratches more easy on the paint.
Your better off investing that money elsewhere
