Alright, I picked my 07 up from the dealer in upstate NY a few weeks ago and drove it home to CT to store until better weather hits. Unfortunately, I ran through a snowstorm in MA on the way so the car got trashed with snow/salt/mud. So ( forgive me, it was before I joined this site ) the following weekend was kind of dry so I thought, hey, I'll just take it to a touchless car wash to get the crap off of it, aaagh!http://www.e90post.com/forums/images...es/mad0259.gif
Now, it needs a full detailing and while I am ordering a bunch of stuff from George at DI, I can't spend a full day or two on the car for several more weeks and it is definitely going to need some swirl removal. So my question is, can I hand wash, clay and then put something on it temporarily to protect until I can do a three or four step detail? I plan on using a PC for the polish, so would Klasse AIO or something comparable work for now? If so, when I am ready to do a full detail in the Spring, do I need to strip off whatever I put on? |

When it comes time for the full detail, you can easily strip off the protection by washing with a concentrated shampoo, use a degreaser on the paint, isopropyl alcohol, clay or polishing. You probably won't have to clay again, since you're about to do that soon. It'll be good you're protecting your car now because it will mean less imperfections added from not to the time you perform your full detail. Hope this helps. George |

I personally wouldn't worry about removing any previous product if you're planning a "3 or 4 step detail". I'd probably save the iso alc wipedown for removing any polish residue from the 3 or 4 steps or maybe even just before LSP application. Just my opinion but it might be a time saver when you do roll up the sleeves and do it right in a couple weeks/months.
