Painting question

May be a daft one, but is it straightforward to repaint a body part from one colour to another?

If your thinking of doing the roof Ed, it might be worth thinking about a vinyl wrap.
You can take it off when you come to sell.

Sand it down, new base coat, new colour coat, new clear coat. Time consuming but do-able. I assume you mean something like a spoiler?

I mean if there is a body part that I want, that is the the wrong colour (i.e. already painted), is it easy to get it repainted?

Yes, best by a bodyshop. What part is it? Also what about the match?

Yeah deffo worth getting a pro to do it, especially if its a part already off the car as that saves them a lot of hassle.

Get them to quote you while they think its still on the car, then when they have quoted you, ask them how much cheaper it will be if you cut all the donkey work and have the piece already off the car.

Carlos, why do you always appear concerned about the correct colour match? I realise a couple of the blokes on here have experienced dodgy re-sprays on panels but quite honestly, that work was carried out by pillocks.

My front bumper and part of the bonnet was re-sprayed on the 911 before I took delivery because of the stone chips and Porsche's approved used car warranty conditions. I challenge anyone to notice any difference in colour or spray lines. Right tools and right person for the job and ........job done.

Have you taken it to a bodyshop to see how much to repair and repaint the one you have got? Often with a little heat they can get things back into shape very easily.

My business partner had an E90 and his missus reversed into the corner of the local library wall!!

Bodyshop did a cracking job repairing the bumper and then respraying to match (sparkling graphite) - you could not tell afterwards and tbh I reckoned on a new bumper as the damage was quite bad and the bricks had gouged the plastic.

I managed to reverse into a drystone wall even with rear PDC

It made a right mess with scrapes and chunks missing, the bodyshop repaired and re-sprayed for £290 all in. Looks brilliant now.
