Latest JB3 Beta - 8A4

This weekend was fun... Burnt through 3-4 beta versions, and progress is being made like crazy. With the new gauge and testing it has been a busy week, so I apologize to those as my PM/email response time has slacked of a little this weekend, from my usual instant responses LOL

Here are the changes from 7G:

1) Redesigned partial throttle algorithms to improve smoothness and provide a more linear pedal feel. This also reduced high rpm boost oscillations in our testing.
2) Smoothed out 4000-5000rpm transition at WOT.
3) Turned boost response (gain for you PID nerds) up a bit.
4) Setup maps 3, 4, 5, and 6 to be separated by around 1/2psi. Normal map suggestions apply.
5) Lagfix is still turned off in all maps. Meaning we are not yet altering the wastegate position during off boost conditions. Working our way up to that though!

If you have a chip burner PM your email and I can send you out the latest beta maps.

Below is the optional cable you can get for mounting the JB3 outside the ECU box.

Don't worry about it, the newest 8A4 is very fun indeed. I put about 70 miles on map #6 today. I was trying to launch on the Hoosiers in 2nd gear and the thing just got sideways and wouldn't stop spinning. I put on my 19"s and 1st AND 2nd gear are pretty useless once you start spinning. Instead of spinning at just full throttle, now you let off the throttle and at 1/2 throttle the tires are still spinning. Getting on the FWY this evening I noticed the traction control light flashes more often now at 50-60mph! I guess they should just call this the "tire burner map". Why in the world did you guys ask for so much torque?? LOL. I guess there are other maps I could switch to besides map #6. 4th gear (instead of 3rd gear) is a very useful FWY passing gear now.

How do I connect the gauge using the optional cable? I heard I have to manually extend gauge's power wire.

7G is quite linear; most noticable in the lower RPM range where stock would feel like the car was struggling

Is there gonna be a map in the future for top end only? I have a JB3 running map #6 and 1st,2nd gears are pretty much useless with the traction control off so I do most of my racing on the highway =)

Remember the gas pedal is not an on off switch. I know that sounds bad, but knowing the car is critically important if you are to be able dictate how it reponds in all conditions.

So what exactly did mike mean by 8a4 being linear?

The power curve is smoother, and the throttle to boost relationship is enhanced.

7G did great at my road race today. No complaints. Car never had any limp modes or weird issues at all during the sessions. I did manage to fade my brakes at one point though
