I was driving today and going into a turn while braking and I heard this weird humming. I thought it was the brakes but it kept going even after I stopped the car. So I thought maybe it was the power steering belt or something but I kept hearing it even in a straight line. So I drove around the block to see if I could hear it some more and there it was. It's louder when I let go of the gas and let the engine slow me down.

I have a manual if this clears anything. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It's a E90 that's a year old. I had my service about 2k miles ago. It just started today now that the bay area storms are getting rougher.

If anyone was following this I was leaking power steering fluid. It was almost all gone when I brought it in. The found that the leak was in the steering rack. I guess there was a bad gasket. They ended up replacing the whole rack.
