Possible vehicle sale - Value?

Hi all

Unfortunately the time maybe nigh for me to part with my beloved.
I’m looking at scraping together a deposit for a house (first time buyer), and the motor will have to go.
We’ve seen a few properties that are nice, but nothing is set in stone. Just looking to purchase in June time assuming something comes along.
The deal with the other half is that – if I sell the car I can get another (BMW of course) in the not too distant future.

I know residuals are shocking, but I was after an honest valuation of my car.
Specs:

May 2007 335i m sport coupe
Black
Red coral Leather
Auto box
USB
Sat Nav & Bluetooth
Front Parking sensors
Heated Seats
Dipping/folding mirrors
Wood (dark) trim
13K miles
Manually upgraded sound system (L7 tweeters and THA275 amp in boot)
Non run flat tyres (pretty much all thread left Goodyear eagle F1 Assims) plus the non run flat bridgestones if required. Rears are low in the inside edge but the fronts are new.
2 months of VED left
14 months of warranty left.
Not that it matters but it was around 41k new.

It’s in very good condition with the exception of a minor paint chip on the passenger door and rear bumper (2mm) which I should fix. I have an oil service around 4-5k miles ago. The computer is showing brake fluid change due in May.
I would hope its worth 23-25k ish (maybe ambitious) Glasses guide suggest 23k for excellent condition trade in.

I presume asking for an offer from a dealer would be silly, but its safe I guess and the no hassle route. What would you do? perhaps pistonheads classified?

I am scared of being defrauded going for the private sale, but a BACS/CHAPS transfer is safe?

Well this concern I guess is for the future. It might not even sell!

Advice and comments appreciated!

Whatever happens it won't be long before I am back in a beemer!

Cheers
Darren

Relatively ok time at the moment, Used car market has bounced back and dealers are scratching round for stock.

There are only 38 2007 335i's on Autotrader, 18 of which are coupes.

Of that, only 10 have Nav (essential in my view).

A similar car at a dealer in scotland is £27,995. A 26k car is £25k.

I think I would advertise at £24,995, but no harm in popping to some dealers and seeing what they offer.

I would shove it up for 25s privately see how ya go. Mileage and options are in yer favour. I would stay firm on 24 grand. Bare in mind the se's go for <20k with 25k on the clock. Buyers market at the mo of course, so yours needs to stand out from the rest, but there are not a lot of m sports around with options like yours.
Appreciate the risks of selling it privately. Always the option of putting it in a prestige used car showroom and enquire about selling it for ya on commission. These places like posh motors on the forecourt. Could always ask for the same at the stealer, and butter em up, say you will be back in a few months looking for another one.
If i had the money, i would be looking to pay 24 on that, and walk away thinking i had a v good deal. Throw in the cheap selling options like tax, hpi check which dont cost you a lot, but inspire confidence and interest.

Theres one like yours Here with double mileage on a 57

Sorry Dazza - didn't realise it was an auto.

That adds about a grand to it, so maybe £24.5k

Was offered £14500 on mine today, 320d m-sport auto, pro-nav,xenons, heated seats, folding mirrors and some other stuff. They said i would'nt get any extra for the wheels or splitters, so im not sure what ill be doing.

Its so much easier to chop it in, saves so much hassle, i may sell the wheels and splitters and the grille and get a bit of extra to put towards it, or i may just sell it as is, i dont know. It would be interesting to know what their mark up would be.

The 530d m sport i test drove today was lovely, so much more refined.

Would expect them to have at least 3k markup on your car.

The 5 series is a step up from the 3, the only problem is it's not as sharp a drive as the 3 but it's still quite good for it's size.

Put it up for sale on here and piston heads, it sounds like a nice car and with a good spec.

Dougie from on here sold his car in few days, and i'm pretty sure its now turned up on BMW auc site, so a buyer from the group must have bought it off him.

There is'nt a lot of nice second hand cars around so they are being bought for goods prices, there is a thread on pheads just now with an auction report and most of the cars are making well over book the game has swung the other way lately...

Hi,
Just to let you know my car is on sale at Sytner for £33850. Seems a bit high at that price.

Dougie.

Thanks SoYank,
Been popping in and out for a while but not as constant as I used too. Picking up the new car on Thursday. Same as I had before but with DCT. I thought you were going back to the states?

Dougie.
