Sun Protection Glass on new E90?

Apologies in advance. I must have spent 2 hours last night searching through the UK forum for opinions on this option, and I'm still undecided. As I'm not planning to re-tint the windscreen/front windows post purchase from my own pocket, I would appreciate opinions before ordering.

From the posted pics I've seen on here, the Sun Protection Glass option seems to suit the Coupe's and to an extent, the Tourers... but what about the saloon?

Car colour is Le Mans Blue..

I'm not too keen about 17yr old 'DJ Shak Attak innit' approaching my motor to purchase Speedy Gonzales, Charlie Watts and Ebeneezer Scrooge....

I'm also ordering the Windscreen with grey shade band, as my missus suffers a bit with strong direct sunlight(Vamp jokes welcome!).

Thanks!

I don't think it makes much different to the E90 (unless perhaps you're going for a dark colour). Like you say it suits the E92 & E91. If you have kids maybe your decision should be based on protecting the little ones as opposed to looks.

I've not got it and haven't felt the need for it. Then again I've got a little one but have just stuck up a sun blind onto the window (bought used so couldn't select SPG).

I have just spec'd an E90 M3 with Sun Protection glass and could not decide if it was the right move or not also!

I have gone for a white car and was worried the dark glass would look 'too' dark. I think the configurator on the BMW web site makes it look a lot darker than it really is in real life. I am also planning a light tint on the side windows (up to the legal limit) to help blend it in a little.

There is also the option of integrated sun blinds in the doors which I was tempted with also, but as I really wanted the tinted windows look, decided to go with the darker glass.

May be worth popping down to your local stealer and see if they have one on the forecourt for sale with the glass fitted so as to get a real life viewing - always better than pics on the 'net.

Good luck with the purchase

Go for it IMO, if nothing ele it stops the CC working so hard on hot days and keep the cabin temp more stable.

If mine hadn't already come with them I probably wouldn't have specced them myself but I do think it looks quite good but not too overly chav dark and the Mondeo privacy glass is much much darker than in the BMW. I suspect it will make the car a little cooler but then the car will heat up more being a darker colour than if it was white or silver.

I've got a Le Mans blue e90 with the sun protection glass, I also have the blinds in the rear and side.
Just love it.

I've also tinted the windows in the front doors.
