Okay, i found some numbers regarding polishing & thinner clear coat

Okay, as many up here have the misconception of detialing as many times as you can. Here is some number i got. Healthy paint with clear coat should be around >140nm, rarely you will see paint with clear coat thicker than 200nm except on exotic cars (they were hand-painted). Each time you polish, >4nm of the paint will be removed. So technically speaking, twice or three times a year won't make a difference until your car is like 5-6 years old. However, that's if you do your polishing properly. 10-15nm or much more of the clear coat can be removed by machine very easily so paint meter is a very good tool for detailers!

Great info to keep handy! I polish mine twice a year so this is very helpful to know. Thanks for the post!

you actually only lose about 2 nm of paint out of your 150 which doesn't make much of a difference. you should watch out if you want to do sanding though. you can really do some heavy damage with that
