SpecC Detailed : jay spec's AW E90 335i - too many pix

First of all, I'd like to thank my two friends who came over to take kick ass pictures for me as you'll see. drsourmonkey and m38 ftw

This car belongs to our very own jay spec who pretty much has his car maintained by me. Mtech, LMs, Studie Lip, 100% LEGIT!

LMs though... worst wheels to clean.... possibly EVER

White is surprisingly one of the more rewarding colors to detail though.

Entire front end is clear bra'd. That's the entire hood, headlights, front bumper, front lip, and two front fenders. Not as easy to work with as I thought. Pictures will show later.

First time trying the green uber pads this time. They are clearly the best flat pads out there with little things. It's soft. It's got retracted foam. Its velcro grips like super glue. It's inexpensive. What more do you need? I'm ordering more when I up my budget.

Materials

Wash and Dry
Grit guard
2 Zymol sponges
Imitation sea sponge
CG CWG
Swissvax Detail brush
DI waffle weave drying towel

Clay
ONR 2 oz per gallon clay lube
Swissvax blue paint rubber
Isopropyl wipe down afterwards

Engine bay
CG grime reaper 4:1 dilution
Swissvax detail brush
P21S total auto wash - under the hood
CG Fade2black - dressing

Paint correction
Menzera PO203S Power Finish via Green Uber pad
Menzerna PO85RD via 3M black US pad
Menzerna PO203S Power Finish via 80mm 3M UK yellow pad - for the tighter areas like the pillars
Hitachi SP18 rotary
3M yellow backing plate

Protection
Duragloss 105

Wax
Zymol Vintage

Everyone only cares about wax! Well, this one costs $2200 and is worth it.

Wheels
P21S wheel gel
P21S total auto wash - tires
CG Grime reaper 4:1 - initial spray for tires
Swissvax wheel brush
EZ detail brush
Stiff bristle tire brush
Clayed with listed materials above
Menznera PO85RD by foam applicator by hand
DG 105
Vroom drying towel

Exhaust
CG metal polish
0000 steel wool
microfiber towels

Other tools
1000W husky halogen lamps
Bunch of CG all purpose towels

ON WITH THE PICUTRES

That's disgusting.

My hand is getting cramps just from looking at it.

Grime reaper is a werking girl!

P21S wheel gel foaming like crazy. Sometimes, it foams a bit too much. I mean, it foams too much all the time

Scrubbed and brushed all over

Well that really makes a HUGE difference.

To the inside!

Clear bra

Light swirling. Nothing that POWER FINISH can't handle

Okay, how about some before and afters

Before

BAM!

Before

POW!

Swirl busting 101

1. Choose a tool

2. Apply polish

3. Kick ass

4. Finish kicking ass

5. Make sure you are done kicking ass

6. Look really cool

Side mod action for my friend's MR2

Now that's one JDM sticker.

Day 1. Completed.

Day 2. More of this

and even, some of this!

I kid, I kid.

Exhaust polishing

After a lot of polishing, we take out some VINTAGE

Applied with foam applicator

So hazy!

Back to being OCD

In my defense, Zymol Vintage was incredibly hard to wipe off after just 30 minutes.

And done! Finished in the day time for you to see!

ENGINE BAY! WITH THE TURBO!

I lied. This is just under the hood

Exhaust done

Wheels. So very expensive

All the pictures kick ass, so I just used them all instead of pick which ones.

GARAGE SHOTS!

How about some in the San Francisco daylight?

Lastly, here's some beading pictures.

Enjoy!

yeah, i got 3 oz of it. i barely used any for one coat and it still makes the paint GLOW. inside the garage, it was kinda like oh this is just another wax. once you get outside though, you walk up to it and the paint looks wet. you walk farther away and the paint starts to glow.

nope, never tried anything zaino. once i drove into detailing, i just picked up things and kept trying new things. new, hyped things that is. zaino just doesn't seem to impress the people who i look up to as great detailers

i'm out of grime reaper now, and i don't think i'll ever be getting any more. It's not as good as P21S in how potent it is when it foams. It does have a good amount of cleaning power, and i'd say it's got more than P21S TAW. P21S works much longer though. It stays foamy and continues to clean as long as you leave it on the spot. Grime reaper stops working after about 4-5 minutes, and the foam is gone. The good thing about it is that you can dilute it to however you want. 4:1 is the best one I've found.
