Speeding Ticket
Hi all,
I just got pulled over last night around 11:46PM right next to Seattle outlet on I-5. I tried to tell him that I was driving same speed as other cars around me, but he said there weren't anyone around me at the time I got pulled over. Also, I told him I'm moving back to CA in 10 days and see if there's any way he would let me go, but it didn't work lol. Although it's only a $144.00 bail, I would like to get it waived if possible because I'll have no time to go to court and I believe my speed was deemed safe at the time since there were no other cars around me. Do you guys happen to know anybody that might be able to help me out? If not then I guess I'll pay the ticket as a "good-bye gift" to WA state. |

Sounds like your only option is to hire a lawyer and hope that you don't have to be present at the hearing. I know a lot of bimmer guys swear by Jag Matto:
Jag Matto 119 First Ave, Suite 500 Seattle WA 98104 253-332-4879 That is going to cost more than your ticket though, so it comes down to whether you want it on your record or not. If you check "mitigate" on the back of the ticket, that is an admission of guilt, meaning it can't be dismissed. The judge could reduce the fine, but that's it. Good luck!

If this is your only ticket in WA state in the last 7 years, you have the option to defer the ticket. I think its a 100$ fine, doesnt go on your record. Only thing is that you will be on probation for the next year. If you get pulled over again, both the ticket which was defered and the new ticket will go on your record... since ur moving back to Cali that shouldnt be an issue.

Call that lawyer and see if thats a possibility. I was fairly new , I think I had a Cali drivers license at that time too. I got my WA license shortly after that, you may just have to be a resident.

regardless of residency, if it's 1st ticket, you can exercise deferral option. only thing is that you need to be in court in person to do that. if you are leaving to CA in 10 days, you will not be able to present. if that's the case, you can either hire attorney and fight thru contest hearing, or explain the circumstances and knock off the ticket price by mail.
