Did I make the wrong move

Well back in October I was looking for a new car and decided to leave the Japanese ranks. The lease on my G35 is up and I ordered a 135i on November 8. Beleive it or not the car is still not here, although it is close. Supposed to arrive in my city on the 30th. I went to the dealership the yesterday and was checking them out again.

The 335 is a little bigger only 140lbs more and has a trunk large enough to fit my golf clubs without having to remove the woods from the bag. With the same motor the lower stance and areodynamics is there a noticable difference in the ride.

The resale on the 335 is pretty strong, how is the 135 going to be in 3 - 5 years. I understand that the 135 will be more exclusive as there are fewer.

Should stay the course or make a change? and why?

Looks like you have doubts on your 135 purchase. Did you drive both cars when you made the decision? Personally, I wouldn't mind having the extra weight for comfort. I am able to fit my golf clubs in the trunk. What made you make the decision to get the 135 instead? Was it the price? If so, then stick with your gut feeling and keep the 135 when it arrives next week.

Good questions. I thought since it was so close in size with the same power it would be an enjoyable little hot rod. I like the fact that there are less of them on the road and it's a new model. The 3 series has grown over the years.

My dealer has a 335 with the same color choice in stock so I could go the other way.

well since the 3 isnt as common, as you said, see if you can get a deal on the 3. If not, see if you can try the 1 or a 135 they have in stock out for 50 miles and the same for a 335 and see if stepping up to a 3 is really what you feel you want. No use spending at least $40k on a car and having doubts.

Well, if you want to take your car and another buddy to golf, then forget about the 1er. The 3 series trunk can accommodate stand bags but looks like it won't swallow my big ass tour staff bag unless I put it sideways.
For me, I would sacrifice some handling and speed for a lot more comfort. The 1er does seem like holding it value fairly well though

I went in this morning and spent about half an hour driving each car. They are so different and yet similar. The 135 is fun to drive but I am leaning towards the 335 now. Seems the 135 is more of a "kids" car or someone who wants to rip around a little. The 335 is a little more refined.

Thoughts?

That's it in a nutshell.

135i is a toned-down version of the 335i E92; toned down in terms of refinement and overall feel. From a pure driving standpoint, it's pretty much the same car. But for overall experience, curb appeal, and mod-ability, the sky's the limit with a 335i. You'll get compliments in a 335i. You'll get "intrigued" looks in a 135i.

I think your last 2 sentences are right on the money. Perhaps no one wants to admit it but when buying a BMW image does factor into the decision on some level. You guys are helping me make what is the correct decision, spend the extra cash.

I will say, go with the 335. In my Opinion, I think the 1 series are to small in size. And for the couple of extra dollars, you will have a better car. Not to say that the 1 is bad, but not my preference.

Not that much leg room for the rear passengers is you go golfing with friends.

Get the 3. The 1 looks like a squashed pig. One of my criterias when choosing my next car was golf bags as well.

335 all the way. But we're all gonna say that since you're on E90 post.

I kind of counted on that. I am hoping you guys will convince me to make the call to the dealer and not turn back. The dealer I am working with has a AW with Red interior, sports package, exec package, step with paddles. Is this a good combo? What about rims, does it "need" the 19"s?

Sounds fab.

I'd go for the Manual Tranny, but to each his own.

Thanks for all those that commented. I have purchased the 335. I went with a fairly basic optioned car. The car has sport package, heated wheel, USB, auto with paddles, SMG on black leather. Not my first color combination choice but dealer the best my dealer has. They have a lot of inventory and its building. He wants the sale number this month so I must take delivery prior to months end. It's a little risky in my mind if his inventory is building so is everyone elses. There may be a more attractive program next month. But I know I have a great price. There are only two competing dealers in my area both said "no way not even on a factory order. If they want to sell one for that its there decision".

One reason I went fairly basic is luxury tax in my area, if I spent another $1100 for the car the taxes would be an additonal $1100 for a total of $2200.

How many of you purchased the tire and wheel warranty and/or the full maintenance package?
