Glass Cleaner on Body?

Some dude told me it was okay to use Stoner Invisible Glass on the body of the car to get bugs off. Is it?

Safe for car tint so it must be okay on body?

The reason I ask is because I normally just wash the car but I've heard leaving the bugs on for more than a day is bad.

So what do you think?

I would not use Stoner's Glass Cleaner on a car's paint. There are specific products that are used for cleaning bugs and such that will not cause any harm. I would invest in a bug sponge and just use a quick detailer

I have used Stoner's for grease stains on clearcoat. Never noticed any problems.

tint is NOT the same material as your paint

don't use it

leaving bugs on your car isn't bad. just get a bug and tar remover to get it off. stoner's tarminator works great, it's economical, it's otc, you can use it to wash your tires too and it's paint safe. why would you use something designed for glass instead?

No, it was not designed for that purpose.

stoner invisible glass is ok on the paint as long as you follow up with a little wax afterwards. the glass cleaner will strip the wax off the car so you will need to reapply to that area. I personally am not a fan of bug sponges as they may put hairline fine scratches in the paint. If anything get a solvent based bug/tar remover. zep, simonize and blue corral all make these products that are clear coat safe. best bet is go to your local PROFESSIONAL car wash that is trained to deal with such issues.

Leaving bugs on your car will bake through the clear coat in the hot summer months. they are acidic and anything acidic that is left of your paint is BAD... Same with tree sap and bird droppings. If you let sit for more then a couple of days it can etch through... i have even seen sap and bird droppings eat through a finnish in one day....

Interesting. I have quick detailer but it doesn't seem to get out the bugs as nice as Stoner Invisible Glass.

From the input I'm gonna stop using it. Thanks for the replies

your right...use what is supposed to be used...was just making a statement that the invisible glass wont damage the clear coat as lont as followed by a wax. However, i know that the invisible glass WILL not remove clear coat. Truthfully any type of cleaner that you will use on the painted surface of the car unless it is a PH of 7 (neutral) will remove some wax from the area worked on.

quick detailer is like a body gloss...got some silicone or teflon in it... used more as a finnishing spray after you wash rather then a bug remover. And its not gonna last long at all..maybe until the next time you wash. Truthfully you could get a good microfiber towel, make it damp and rub softly. These towels are great at removing stubborn bugs, and best of all you dont need mad crazy chemical.
