I think I'm going to shut up....why put up.

No..I'll be there sometime this summer, at least once. A buddy with a mazdaspeed 3 wanted to race me and was willing to put $50 down on it.

I'm stock and no plans to modify for our race, but I figure I can still take him. The only part that worries me a little is reaction time - he's excellent, I'm just good. Partially because I'm a little afraid of red-lighting.

Should be a fun race though. I expect to win, even though I've only been at the track once and only got three runs in that night - each run was progressively better as I settled into the car.

I don't think even a Mazdaspeed 6 can take a 335i stock. Let us know the results

he stands no chance....you will walk on him increase the stakes..unless he has some mods on his 3 with some serious upgrades

I know he's got downpipes and full exhaust with a high flow cat, and then some sort of "intake/inlet pipe" I think it was - but from what I understand this "intake pipe" is not actually a CAI...maybe inlet? No idea, never really asked or cared b/c I figured it wouldn't do much.

I believe that's all his mods. I actually rode in his car recently (he just had the DP's and exhaust put in), it actually pulls pretty well, but I'm thinking I'll still take him.

$50 makes it just worthwhile enough for me to come out, and not too much to really care if he takes me due to the reaction time. Obviously we are doing first through the trap here, not fastest time, which is why R/T concerns me a smidgen.

If (and its a big IF) he beats me on the first one (best of 3), I'll risk redlighting the second run to get a good R/T. Heard the trick is to go on the second last light.

I used to own a Mazdaspeed6, best stock 1/4 times I've seen are 13.7s@98MPH. No where near a 335 but from a dig watch out!

Personally I could never get better than a 13.9s, but I could do it all day long. And 1.8x second 60 foot times were easily repeatable on stock tires.

Mazdaspeed3's have same engine but FWD, torque is limited in 1st and 2nd. If I remember correctly they do low 14's stock (14.1,14.2). They do weigh less than the Mazdaspeed6 though, so I'm sure a modded one with slicks could give a stock 335 a good run.
