Dinan Oil Cooler Installation Issue...
I had an accident and damaged the front on the passenger side of my car. I had the OEM oil cooler and it was damaged. I decided to take the chance and upgrade to the Dinan Oil Cooler.
It appears I'm missing the bracket to connect the oil cooler to the car. It appears like I need to disconnect the bracket from the OEM oil cooler and use that with the Dinan Oil Cooler. Unfortunately that was damaged. Do I need to purchase another oil cooler simply to use its bracket? Thanks!

I'm sure you should be able to get the bracket by itself...that would be completely absurd if you can to purchase a whole new oil cooler just for a bracket. If so...see if there are any e90post members who might have their old oil coolers with brackets laying around...a lot of people have had to change them here...

It doesn't appear you can buy the bracket alone...

I'm sure dinan can get you that bracket, as they sell a kit for those who did not previously have the oil cooler as well.

Looks like I need to find an OEM bracket that comes bundled with the OEM oil cooler and is not sold separately.
Look at the picture below: You can tell that the bracket that holds the oil cooler to the car has been removed from the oem oil cooler. Furthermore, in the next pic you can see where the OEM Hex Nuts with Plates are attached on the Dinan oil cooler (left side). Can anyone source me this part?! LTBMW maybe?

I'm not sure which bracket you are referring to. There are two that are used, one is vertical and has two studs. The other is an aluminum bracket that crosses the top and connects to the side of the frame rail.
It's sounds like you are looking for the aluminum bracket. If so you are in luck as you can make it fairly easily with aluminum if needed. In fact I found I needed to modify the oem one to fit the aftermarket cooler (an btw, the VKM and Dinan use the same mounting bracket) as it is not long enough and binds with the upper oil line. Here is a parts list for the entire retrofit: 1 51-71-7-161-434 Oil cooler air duct $47.84 1 17-22-7-521-376 Oil Cooler $289.51 1 17-22-7-567-207 Oil Pipe $123.58 1 17-22-7-567-208 Oil Pipe $123.58 2 17-12-7-563-858 Clip (Hose Clamp) $0.88 1 11-42-7-548-032 Oil Filter Housing $223.32 1 51-71-7-161-438 Brake air duct $21.82 1 51-71-7-162-832 Right front wheel arch panel $33.94 1 51-11-7-154-722 Right lower bumper grille $18.53 1 51-11-7-187-338 Open, right bumper grid $8.42 6 07-11-9-901-299 Sheet Metal Screw $1.20 1 07-11-9-903-995 Hex Bolt $0.42 2 07-14-7-144-953 Hex Nut $1.32 1 11-42-7-540-758 ASA Bolt $1.30 1 11-42-7-540-759 ASA Bolt $0.86 1 11-42-7-540-763 ASA Bolt $1.30 3 11-42-7-542-983 Torx Screw $2.52 1 11-42-7-564-892 Thermostat Housing $83.42 1 17-21-7-540-030 Holder (Oil Cooler Mount Bracket) $3.66 4 17-22-2-245-358 O-Ring $3.76 2 17-22-7-555-715 Screw $1.24 1 51-11-7-134-080 Open Grid, Right $18.53 1 51-11-7-181-358 Finisher $13.95 1 51-64-7-154-546 Plate $31.30 1 51-71-7-161-436 Air Duct $33.56 1 51-71-7-162-272 Air Duct $47.84 1 51-71-7-162-276 Cover, Wheelhousing $39.66 1 51-74-7-160-610 Air Duct $27.60 I think this is the part you are looking for: 1 17-21-7-540-030 Holder (Oil Cooler Mount Bracket) $3.66 Attached is the installation guide for the oem oil cooler. It should help you figure it out. |

In the realoem.com pictures that looks like a tiny part that connects to the frame. The diagram doesn't seem to point to the bracket that holds the actual oil cooler.
Is the entire bracket assembly?

Bummer, it looks like it might come with the oil cooler. It should be possible to rig a piece in it's place. That bracket keeps the cooler from swinging in and out, it does not bare any of the weight.
