Work order does not state software update...did they not do it?

Im kinda hoping they didnt do it. I have a pre 29.2 car, although with the date range my car was produced (02/08) and being an MSD80, the 32.1 would have made my car stay like new anyways, but I was hoping for idrive updates. Is it possible they didnt update it since it says they didnt? They did have the car all morning. Is there a way to check on the idrive somehow?

Thanks

if it's not on your work order, in all likelihood it wasn't done

Apparently some little rodents chewed my oil sensor cable. I threw the BS flag though cause I took my car in for its 15k oil change and they had forgot to reset the mileage. They then only reset it to 3000miles. Then after I got under 2k it said it needed oil, I took it in again and the said it couldnt reset. They tried to tell me that it was chewed on by some rodents but I was like no, this started after the oil change, therefore, something during the oil change had to be the cause. The car is garage kept and the owner before me kept it in there. No rodent problems at all.

So while it was there I told them to go ahead and update the computer to the newest software since they had it all day and it was never done I guess, since its not on teh workorder....I was just wondering if there was a way to confirm on the car. I really dont want to take the car back to the dealer just for software update but I wanted the new idrive firmware that is out to maybe address a playlist issue I am having with the USB drive. I just cant get them to show.

rodents chew on those wires alot...ive seen it happen at least 5 times in my shop in the 15 months ive been here. the oil level sensor sits right under the belly pan...a oh so nice little spot for rodents to sit and chew. it will cause the issues you describe along with a few others. as for the update...we cant/wont just update your car because your ask/tell a tech to do so. unless theres a reason to update the software..it wont be done unless youd like to pay to have it done.

Thanks for the clarification. I do find it a just a tad bit of a coincidence though on the timing, ya never know.

As for the software, I should have been updated to 32.1 per my build date and the TSB. My date range should allow for that. Either way, not a huge deal I guess. Ill just have them do it next time.
