Yes, there are several.

BMW do an Ipod interface kit which sit somewhere behind the dash above the glovebox and drops an ipod cable down into the glovebox, this then converts the CD changer option on your radio into an ipod control, you can browse tracks, albums, artists etc. It works well enough although the interface can be a bit clunky especially if you have a huge amount of mustic - scrolling say to the letter T is a long process.

Denison (who have been doing this sort of thing for a while) also do one think its called the Gateway 500, no idea if its better or worse than the standard BMW one.

There may also be the option of a BMW 6FL retrofit kit which gives the choice of using either an ipod or just a plain USB flash disk - I think you can add it to non idrive cars depending on which radio you have, someone will confirm.

Thumbs up

6FL is an option but is very expensive. My local dealer quoted me £900 to retrofit it . I thought about the retrofit BMW ipod kit, decided against due to limitations in terms of the number of playlists you can use. After a comparison between the Dension and the mObridge, I decided to go for the mObridge unit. I've found it very usable, giving me all the functionality I want - able to select by Playlist, Artist, Song, Genre, have the song details display on head unit and being able to skip tracks using the steering wheel controls.

£450 fitted. Bought from here for £325, local indie charged £125 for fitting and updating the rest of the software on the car.

In the simplest terms radio has to be programmed (software) to believe its got a cd changer attached, when I had my BMW adaptor installed they hooked it up to there machine that is used to prigram all the computers in the car (lots of the beggers!) and left it going for some hours while it did its stuff. Think I paid about £450 fitted.
