streamline, close thread
airfilters aren't all about performance gains but quality of airflow and streamline is by far the best in this and minimal gains like any other air filter.

oiled gauze filters tend to have much shallower pleats, and thus less surface area. To offer less resistance to airflow over a smaller surface area, they MUST have bigger pores. This means they don't filter as well. That, combined with the cost, dubious gains, hot air issue make them a bad investment.
Also, I read a test a few years ago that, after several thousand miles when the big pores DO find a big enough piece of dirt to clog them, they actually flow LESS than a paper filter with the same number of miles. Unless you're heavily modded and the stock filter becomes a choke point, just stay stock. That said, I'd love to see maybe a dual paper filter intake. |
