How about the chemicals used from our showers / bathrooms ? Thats surely illegal as well! We must all stop showering and taking a bath!!!!

Yea thats true! If they surely wanted it to be illegal to wash our cars than they should limit our power to buy car washes over the shelves at any local store!

I think the law is to prevent the chemical from going DIRECTLY into the storm drains. The junk coming out of your house goes into the sewage system which will then get treated before it goes back out into the lake, etc.
