*Different* IPOD Retrofit Idea and Questions

Ok, I have done many searches on this, and I think I'm actually asking a question nobody has asked yet (believe that!). I, like everyone else, would like to do the iPod retrofit. I have a 2007 E92 with just the AUX input. Now, some people want to do this because they want high quality audio...others because they want to control it with their iDrive, etc.

Here's my idea. I've worked on computers most of my life, so maybe I'm thinking differently, but I've been looking on RealOEM and getBMWparts to see the differences in iPod interfaces between 2007,8,9 vehicles, and I came across this:

So there's part numbers for each of these interfaces, right? So I'm thinking, what if I can buy one of these, and hook it up to the MOST Interface to make it have a nice finished look in the console, replacing the AUX input? I've hooked up random USB ports to all kinds of stuff before. So couldn't I use #7 and #8 to hook up to the MOST interface? Even IF for some reason this was impossible, I know you could wire up #7 and #8 to at least CHARGE the ipod and use the included AUX adapter to have input to your vehicle....

Those are dumb jacks... you will need the Interface box High ULF-SBX-H/USB hub even try a connection to the MOST network... and the dealer will not be able to code it:

If you've worked with computers most of your life, the analogy would be that you are covering the HW, but there's no driver.
