It sucks reality checks like this are needed. It sucks even more that most of these lessons are lost on the types of people who drive drunk. You're buddy was tired, which i put in a different class. But drunks kind irritate me. My car doubles as a bed when i'm too drunk. I've even had a cop tap my window, ask me what was up. He laughed and said good job!

But seriously, this stuff is fucking scary. A few weeks ago I was driving ~320 miles from home back to university, and I left at like 11:30pm. I'm not allowed to speed (just got a ticket recently) and so I was going 70 the whole way. At that speed shit is fucking boring, so bloody slow.

I caught my self a few times. You know like when your head drops down (for a millisecond) and you're like "Oh shit!" and then you wake up for a bit. Well any ways that happened a couple times and I was like, I better be careful. So I'd drop the window for a bit and wake up some.

About an hour away from my destination (4/5 hrs of the drive) I am concentrating quite hard on the road and staying at the limit of 70. Somehow, I dunno how it happened, my eyes close and my head just drops down into my chest. I wake up maybe 2 seconds later? The whole trip no one was near me. But when I opened my eyes there was this huge pickup truck next to me in the left lane and I feel myself drifting towards it. So as soon as my eyes opened I was like "OH FUUUUCK!" and then I jerked the steering wheel to the right, and was perfectly fine.

I was like okay, that was scary, fuck this. I dropped my windows, turned the music up really loud, and sped all the way to my apartment.

I am never driving tired again. Oh and to top it all off, at one point my contact dried up and fell outta my eye. That fkn sucked, I pulled over at a rest stop and had some extras thankfully.
Hey Doug, something similar happened to me. I was actually driving down from a getaway weekend with friends, and had virtually not slept cause of the crazy parties we had been invited to at our getaway destination.

I had been driving for like 3 1/2 hours at the speed limit after getting a speeding ticket earlier on the same trip, and everyone I was driving with was fast asleep so no radio etc, just total silence. I started dozing off when all of a sudden I felt the car drift, and luckily got an early warning when I felt the car ride over some road reflectors. I pulled over for like 20 minutes, drank a bucket load of water, walked around the car a couple of times...but all I could think of was what if something had happened. The worst is I was driviing with peoples daughters in the car and could not bare the thought of having their families recieve bad news. Thank God nothing happened!

Driving tired FTL!

Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't responsible for anyone else. Although before I had left, my girlfriend was like, "You shouldn't leave so late, blah blah blah," and I'm like "I'll be fine." She was like if anything happens to you you're never going to hear the end of it from me. I never told her what happened and definitely don't plan on it, lol.
