run flat tires, fact or fiction?
I don't know that much about them, but if I had a choice, I would have opted to not have them. Anyway, a friend told me when I get my car, take the extended protection on the tires. It cost him $400 for 3 yrs., and he's replaced 4 run flats already on his Z4.
Is it true that once a run flat has been driven on flat, it and the other 3 tires need to be replaced?? What is the purpose of that? That's like saying instead of changing a tire, it costs $1200 so you can drive 50 miles at 50 mph. Strange....or maybe I got the facts wrong. Treadwear 140 on the Bridgestones, that's not good! ![]() |

I was able to have my flat patched at Les Schwab for free. I did only put about 10 miles on it, but drove on it like normal because i thought the sensor was bad. Couldn't tell it was flat.

No, you need to send the other 3 tires to me.

![]() Ok, that's cool then, sounds like the RFT can be repaired if driven on flat, I guess in some cases. I've gotten a bunch of flats before on my current car, but in all cases but one, slow leaks. I should be ok with the RFT's.....one article that I read that got me wondering was a lawsuit against Dunlop related to Toyota Sienna's using RFT's.... |
