Is there a place that I can enjoy my car without violating any law?

I'm around Sacramento and I am wondering if there is a track or a free space that I can just test out my new tires?
I'm looking for some fun but I do not want to disturb anyone and/or break any traffic law
I don't think it is legal to do it in parking lot at 2 am either
Any suggestion?

At the top of my head, Thunder Hill & Laguna Seca are both located in NorCal and are always open for open track days.

The track IMO is the best place to have a lot of fun with your car without the negative consequences with authority.

+1.

Or an auto crossing event. Doing it in other areas would be illegal unless it's a private property and the owner agrees to it.

wish we had a track in SOCAL to enjoy our cars with. the best we got is willow springs which is a hell of a drive to get there. the nearest thing we got is irwindales 8th of a mile. all our other tracks are always closed or held for special events.

There's several auto-x events in SoCal as well.

willow springs is less than 1.5 hrs for me, Fontana is a bit closer, but buttonwillow is more of a drive (2hrs). but really, its nothing compared to most other states, where people need to drive half a day or more to get to a decent track.

Anyone going to Buttonwillow on Sat. 4/18/09 (with Speed Ventures)?
I'll be there in my 135i... also they are running 2 different sign-ups per day. You can go for the AFTERNOON and even sleep in (no hotel needed)!

When I become rich with my get rich scheme... I will have a track on my property with an airplane hangar for storing my cars and you are all welcome to enjoy the track alongside me... Hit me up in 15-20 years

I would thnk Thunderhill Raceway is closest to you (Willows, CA). There's trackdays coming up through a few different organizers. NCRC usually offers low prices so you may want to check out their site and upcoming schedule to see when they will next have an event at thunderhill. You will be able to push your car and test out your tires

It's all day Saturday (4/18) now; Speed Ventures changed the format back to normal. Anyone else going? I saw one 335i reg'd (Brian Kim) and an '08 M3. Either of you on this board? PM me and we can meet at the track.

There are a few e36 race-prepped cars participating, too.
