Carbon Fibre Kidney Grills

So with the long weekend, finally had some time to do the CF Kidney grill wrap. Apologies for the crappy pics, but was taken with my iPhone camera! First had to take out the Chrome bits:

With one firm tug the Grill comes out of the bumper, the mustache comes off with 3 x T20 screws each.

Next I measured out the 3M vinyl for each piece:

I cleaned the pieces with alcohol to ensure no oils prevent the glue from sticking, did the mustache first and compared the look, mmmm....

Finally did the two bottom pieces. They were very tricky with the bends around the corners, but it all came out quite nice IMO.

Put everything together again and this was the final product.

let me know what you all think. I still have some Carbon Fibre 3M vinyl left for about 2 grills. Pop me a PM if anybody is interested!

looks good Menno.
Will have to see what it looks like in person.

Is this the same cf stuff they're using for trimming the interior pieces on the forum?

Hi Revo,
Yeah this is the 3M vinyl wrap. Unfortunately I only got 500 x 400 piece, was really hoping to maybe do the front door aluminium pieces too, but the vinyl is not long enough. It quite pricey at R1200 per meter (maybe came down in price now that R/$ is bit better!) But luckily the kidneys dont use that much vinyl.

I can import the sheets for the interior for cheaper, if there's enough local interest.

Working on it.
But I'm looking at bringing in the cf fabric, not the vinyl, and we can use it for interiors.
More flexible, breathable and durable.
