mounting / balancing tires shipped from tirerack
Hi,
I just ordered some replacement summer tires from tirerack. Once they arrive, I'll need to get my old tires off my 18" rims, and get these new ones on. I also have TPMS in my existing rim+tire combination, so I assume this can be 'moved', correct? My question is: BMW seems to be charging an arm and a leg to do this type of maintenance. Does anyone have a place that they would recommend that can do this reliably, for a reasonable cost? I live in NH near the MA border. Thanks! |

are you just swapping tires? your tpms won't have to be moved if you are doing that, they are mounted on the rim. Any local tire chain should be able to swap your tires for you.

Another option would be to check our recommended installer database search :

Be careful who you use to change the tires. The place I went to scratched the hell out of my rear rim taking off the RFT and reinstalling it after a repair. I had them pay to have the wheel refinished.

Had to get my wheels re-balanced and to be honest prior to this it was like the equivalent of having no weights on at all.

I'm not complaining about tire rack, just the installers. There is a tire rack warehouse in my town, so it was super convenient to go pick up the tires myself. Saved a bundle too, as most tire places here did the same and charged extra for it. Last time I took the tires to my dealer and they put them on for me.

My dealer swapped out my 162's and RF's to my new set up (new 2 years ago), which was (is) Morr vs7's and GY Eagles FS D3's. I got the tires from TireRack. They charged me $115, which included a RFB. I was extremely pickey about scratches. They did a great job....even used a torque wrench instead of a gun....by my request. Hell, they even wrapped up my old set in plastic and put them in my wife's car for me.
