I was lucky enough to see & hear these guys in Queensland on a trip many years ago. The mimicked sounds of chain saws, train whistles, honking horns, hammers, sirens, slamming doors combined with the bird's own repertoire is remarkable to experience.

Stunning dance display of long tail feathers while singing as well.

There was a Mockingbird in my old neighborhood that used to mimic lawn mowers, the noon fire station horn & the air wrenches in the tire shop across the street. And that's amateur hour for the Splendid Lyrebird.

Grab the next flight to Sydney, stroll around the Opera House, then take the train up to Lamington National Park & be amazed...
