How to get road tar/grime off my hood....
I used the wash mitt thinking that the tar/grime is going to come off by washing. But it didn't come off, and because I tried to wash it off, it's now a brown streak from me smearing/scrubbing it.
I've used clay bar after the wash to see if that would help. It did a little, but didn't take off all the tar/grime. What is the best product/method in getting tar/grime off car paint? It's extremely noticeable because my car is Alpine White! Please help me out TIA

Well, I use Poor Boy's Spray n Shine for lubricant for clay bar and to remove bugs, tar, grime, etc. It works well most of the time, just not this time.......
Is that what you use? bug and tar remover? Any suggestions on brand? TIA

I prefer to use the Goo-Gone available from Lowes or Home Depot. If it were me dealing with this then I'd use the Goo-Gone to remove the grime and then clay the hood and rewax or seal ....... whatever the case may be.
Anything you use to remove the grime is going to remove whatever wax/sealant you have too ..... |

One of the guys I work with has used the stuff to clean his car for years and now his neurologist is pointing to the toluene in it as a possible cause of a recent loss of feeling in his extremities. The problems may be due to something else but at the moment it's the only thing they can point to that might cause these problems. At the moment the condition is bothering him enough that he has needed to drop out of a few track days because of it. I've never heard of toluene causing problems like this and again, it's entirely possible something else is causing this. Either way, just be careful when using solvents or other harsh chemicals. |

Most tar removers are good. Find one that can be bought OTC as the Tarminator. or the meguaris.

Thanks, I tried the Goo Gone and it worked a little bit, but there's still some visible tar left.
I guess that leaves me with trying Tarminator..........We'll see how that goes.
