tyre damage
had a close look at my tyres off the car today. apart from the rears inside beginning to wear abnormaly (email gone off to bmw about this) i was surprised at the amount of damage done by small stones presumably as the roads are disintegrating. pulled most of them out but this left gaping holes in the rubber fortunately none had gone right through, but if left i assume as the tread wears done they would push through. quite happy to keep the runflats as i dont have an issue with them and seeing the damage to the rubber got me thinking that a blowout at speed is more likely. about time the government paid us to drive on these apalling roads, i dont know about paying to drive on them

Also, keep on top of your tyre pressures - my local dealer recommended .2 bar above the stated figures, so I've got my fronts at 2.8 and the rears at 3.0.
I was initially shocked at the inside wear on the rears which I noticed at about 18k. Admittedly, I was a bit lazy with checking pressures, but since I've been doing it every week, the rears have not worn any more in about 6k.
