BMW Human Resources in North America

Hi Guys - I've worked in the software business for the last 6 years but recently my position was eliminated (like so many companies today). I've contemplated making the jump to the auto industry but it didn't make sense to do so until now. I've loved cars and BMWs for 25+ years now! This is my passion.

So, I'm interested in applying at BMW (I have already) but want to do more than just submit my resume and wait. I want to be proactive but cannot find someone to talk to (by design). Does anyone on this forum have a number or a contact I could call? Even if its just a general number, I'll cold call and do what it takes.

By the way, my background is in customer and partner development, sales and customer service management, etc. I'm not interested in working for a dealer but for BMW I am willing to relocate anywhere in the nation at my cost, so I'm hoping that will help.

As a side note, when I secure my next employer, the G35 will be going (I was being cheap when I bought it....should've gone for the 330). I'm hoping to replace it with a 335!! I'm a bit addicted to e90post looking at this website everyday now. It's a great forum.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

When you get in make sure to tell them you know someone interesting in any form of marketing position and would be willing to pay them to work for them. :P

sorry to hear about your recent job cut. Hang in there and don't give up. If not BMW, there is always something else that come along. GL.

They don't make it easy

I just spent the last 30 minutes talking to 5 different people that either didn't know the number for human resources or just dumped me into a pre-recored message/loop asking me to apply online. But, I've got a brochure on the way as a result of one of those calls (ha ha).

**I know someone out there has some kind of connection that knows somebody.....I'm not looking for some pull (although that would help), just a way to talk to someone who cares about the recruitment process (not a gatekeeper)!

If I can get in, they'll probably love the fact that money isn't my #1 (or #2) concern. Money will come if I'm doing what I love. I, like you Nikki, would probably pay them!!...and I'll have my marketing degree soon (I've been going for quite some time, while working a billion hours in software sales management).

BMW NA does NO external hiring for Mktg., only internally. They prefer that you start at the retail level, work your way up, then apply. It's more than likely that this same practice is excercised for other positons within the company. Otherwise they prefer experience in the auto industry. Last year they recieved about 6,000 resumes for positons within the mktg. dept. with only 60 positions to fill. It's highly competitive and you must have very strong credentials (able to speak the German language, strong oral presentation skills, etc.) for them to even consider you. Just a little helpful information.
