Oil level after service

How far up the dipstick would you expect the oil to be immediately after a service?

Had mine serviced yesterday and checking the oil today, its only just on the minimum as measured by the 5 minutes after a run and while warm (BMW Method)

I'm not familiar with the 'stick - but after a service I would reasonably expect it to be at the MAX mark..........wouldn't you?

Hello Dr

I was expecting similar. I wouldn't reasonably expect to top up for the first couple of thousand miles

One would expect it to be near enough bang in the middle and you shouldn't feel the need to check but unfortunately it will only be as precise as the grease monkey (sorry BMW Technician) is arsed at that particular time.

Sounds like a call back to the dealer is required!

Took back to the dealer. When they checked a few minutes after being driven, the level was a quarter between min and max. To them that was enough oil.

Level should be at the full mark so that level should not drop below the Min mark between services. Plus you pay for 6.5 litres so 6.5 litres is what you should get.
