Quaife LSD question
For those of you who have bought this and installed it I have a few questions.
1) Does the car act totally different after the install? 2) how many hours of labor is the install for the LSD? 3) Will the pumpkin help out with launches of all sorts and tracks? Thanks,

1. Street, car is identical. You only notice difference at the limits of handling the car when the rear tires are slipping.
2. I did the install myself so i have no idea... 3. Of course it helps with launches and tracking... if it didnt why would u ever get one? Quote:

1) No, everything's the same until you drive 'normally'. But it's a totally different car when you accelerate from corners or do 1st, 2nd gear WOTs. Powerslides are amazing - it's very easy to control a car, vehicle acts very predictably. I'm afraid I'll have to buy new rear tires soon - I go sideways much more often. 2) Depends on who does the installation. It took about 4-5 hours to install mine. You can check the installation thread in my signature.

It makes the car way more fun to drive. IMO you need serious suspension mods to go with it.

I've had the Quaife LSD on my car for about 1200 miles now:
1) Doesn't act totally different but there is a difference that you feel. You will notice better acceleration during normal day to day driving. I felt that right off the bat, immediately. I can feel that power is being put down equally to both wheels. As you know, to take full advantage of what the LSD can do, the DTC must be completely off. However, even if you leave DTC/DSC alone in default settings or DTC button pressed once, you'll notice that the traction control symbol (!) doesn't interfere or come on as much as before. When I read an article about the Hyundai Genesis having an LSD option, I pulled the trigger and got the Quaife. No way will a Genesis be more fun to drive than my BMW.. nothing against Hyundai, they are giving the customer just what we want. So to conclude, I've noticed less wheel spin under acceleration and overall better traction. With DTC completely off, you can easily swing the rear out, which is FUN! Car still breaks traction from a dig though, but now launches are way more consistent. Now I just crave more horsepower. 2) I had mine installed by HP Autowerks - top notch service, did a complete FD or pumpkin swap, took like 3 hrs or so. 3) DEFINITELY Hope this helps. |

About the installation for these, it seems installation time is extremely variable. I heard people saying 3hrs in a different thread who installed theirs at UK auto bird (London), some people say 4hrs and others said 7-8 who did it at HP Autoworks so what is it exactly cus I'm having mine installed on Wednesday and he also said that he needed a full day so about 8hrs and I dont know if he's ripping me off or that's how long it actually takes
