Great Price for an Extended Maintenance Policy - $1,695
I toyed with the idea of buying an extended maintenance policy for the last several months. I did my homework and learned a lot for the various forums. One thing that came out was BMW dealers could charge what ever they wanted. Some of the prices were in the $3,000 range. Most were in the low $2,000 range with a few in the high teens.
I won’t debate if they are a good purchase or not. That has been beaten to death. I decided to go ahead and buy one. I called several local BMW dealers in the Los Angeles area and found the wide range of prices as I mentioned above. One was $1,695 plus tax. Nice try, there is no tax on these policies. In my search, I came across a posting that recommended United BMW of Gwinnett in Duluth Georgia. The Internet Sales Manager, Justin Hoisington, handles the sales of the extended maintenance policy for the dealer. I sent him and email with the year (2006), Model (530I) and mileage (33,000) and he quickly emailed me back a price of $1,695. I sent him the key with a credit card authorization form that he emailed me and it was a done deal. I have no affiliation with Mr. Hoisington besides being a satisfied customer. Here is his information; Justin Hoisington Internet Sales Manager 707 622-8251 direct line 478.918.7093 mobile jhoisington@penskeautomotive.com United BMW of Gwinnett 3264 Commerce Ave. Duluth, GA 30096 www.gwinnettbmw.com 770.476.8800 main line 770.623.8933 fax |

Not bad. I got mine for $2200. Of course they tried to sell me the most expensive one with tire protection. What policy did you get? I got the cheapest one they had. I didn't need that tire protection crap. I'm getting non RFTs soon. I also have AAA so I didn't need the extended road side service.

what a rip off. I bought the extended maintenance back in 2007 for my 335 for like 1195, and my friend got it for his 06 325 for 900 or so.

Additional 2 years or up to 100,000 miles. OP-it doesn't matter that the warranty is not bought from the same dealership as where you got your car from? I'm at around 37k mark and is looking into extended warranty and maintenance. |

The 530I is a great car and I had not planned on keeping it for several more years. But the more I drove it and the more mods I added the more I liked it. Thus the EM and EW. I have to admit it looks shabby to post for the first time and pimp off someone. However, I am not affiliated. I was just happy to save a few bucks and wanted to pass the information on. I posted the exact posting on 3 other BMW forums. |

It was a $1595 option on a new '09 335. It's purely a bet on mileage. I would think you would really have to run up the miles to hit enough major service intervals to even break even.
I know it's more money, but it seems to me to make sense if you really feel strongly about keeping the car to buy an extended warranty. I probably wouldn't but with maintaince you have a choice to do it yourself, have it done somewhere other than BMW or not do it at all. If your car breaks, you have some of the same options but you HAVE to do it. Plus, with a 335, 535, etc there are so many complicated/expensive parts and subsystems you could get killed. |

I ended up going with Mercury for the extended warranty. 5 years more and up to 75K on the car. For an additional $250 they covered the nav and iDrive. Total cost was $2300 with a zero deductable. I don't think that BMWs covers the iDrive. Contact is Damien Trombetta, MBP Product Administrator, Allied Solutions Insurance Services, LLC, 800-826-9384 x 23319 Damien.Trombetta@alliedsolutions.net. Again, no affiliation, just a happy customer. |
